Intouch with Health and University Hospitals Dorset shortlisted at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2023

Intouch with Health is delighted to announce that alongside University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (UHD), the Dorset Health Village project has been shortlisted in the Best Elective Care Recovery Initiative category at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2023, recognising the dedication to improving healthcare and effective collaboration with the NHS.

The HSJ Partnership Awards recognise and honour the most effective partnerships, innovative projects and collaborations in the UK health system. The prestigious award programme, now in its sixth year, is not just a celebration of success stories but also a platform to shape the future of our new integrated health and care system.

The judging panel comprised a diverse range of highly regarded figures across the NHS and wider healthcare sector. To be shortlisted as a finalist for these awards, despite tough competition from a pool of brilliant applications, is a mark of real achievement for Intouch with Health and the UHD.

About the Project: The Dorset Health Village

In April 2021, facing a backlog of more than 110,000 pandemic-delayed outpatient appointments, UHD began a ground-breaking project to open a remote outpatient assessment clinic in a department store. As part of the trust’s innovative and ambitious ‘ThinkBIG’ initiative to help them tackle their backlog of outpatient appointments, clinically-led plans were drawn up to transform what was an empty shop floor into 1,600 square metres of partitioned clinical space, taking the trust’s services into the heart of the community. The Dorset Health Village opened on 20 December 2021, with 98% of patients that have attended the facility rating the experience as ‘good’ or ‘very good’

Pete Beaumont, Sales Director at VitalHub UK, comments, “We are delighted to see Intouch with Health and UHD shortlisted for the Best Elective Care Recovery Initiative, recognising the collaborative efforts and dedication of our teams to successfully deliver The Dorset Health Village. This was an incredibly innovative approach to tackling the elective backlog across Dorset and we are very proud to have played a part in this project. The Dorset Health Village has been commended and visited by former Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, and NHS England Chief Executive, Amanda Pritchard, and is being praised as the model to get testing for illnesses back to pre-pandemic levels by 2025. We’d like to thoroughly congratulate Mark Mould at the teams across UHD and the Dorset ICS.”

HSJ editor Alastair McLellan comments: “We would like to congratulate Intouch with Health and UHD on being nominated in the category of Best Elective Care Recovery Initiative ahead of HSJ Partnership Awards 2023.
