Background on Synopsis at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust

The Synopsis Platform was deployed during COVID-19 across Worcestershire's four hospitals, beginning in February 2020.

Following the deployment, patients no longer need to visit a hospital to complete their pre-op assessment health questionnaire. Instead, using a link sent by the Trust to their phone or tablet, patients waiting for elective surgery can choose to complete their questionnaire at home - avoiding an unnecessary visit to a hospital.

Synopsis has replaced the previous resource-heavy, time-intensive assessment process with a complete digital solution pathway. Once a patient completes their pre-op assessment questionnaire (either from home, or in the hospital), the answers are shared instantly with the Trust’s pre-op team, removing the need to use, access and store paper records.

Risk assessment levels are supported (including ASA, POSPOM and Stop-Bang scores), alongside cardiac risk and lung risk levels, providing care teams with all relevant information to triage patients with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.

As a result of deploying the Synopsis Platform, the hospital activity time of a pre-assessment has reduced by 21%, alongside many other significant evidenced-based outcomes. Register now to access this special webinar to learn more.
