Plymouth Hospital Share the Intouch with Health Electronic Outcome System with Lord Carter

Lord Patrick Carter of Coles has been charged by the Government to help improve efficiency across the NHS. In 2016, he produced a paper: Operational Productivity and Performance in English NHS acute hospitals: Unwarranted Variation. Today, Lord Carter went to see eOutcomes work in a real environment. Plymouth Hospital is progressing the roll-out of eOutcomes with Intouch with Health.

Plymouth being one of the most advanced, if not the most advanced, hospital in the country in using such an electronic system.

Mat Swabey, Senior Project Support Manager and Samantha Sheridan, Head of Patient Access from Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, talked Lord Carter through the implementation of the system and described the benefits of it, including how it has improved the situation over the previous paper forms used and the savings it has made.

One of Plymouth Hospitals consultants described to Lord Carter how she completes the eOutcome in front of the patient, turning her screen towards them so the patient can see that she has booked any relevant further tests or appointments in real time, without waiting for paper to be sent to another department and processed.

Towards the end of his visit Lord Carter said: That’s fantastic. We have to make this stuff easy. We are getting there; ….well done Plymouth.”
