South Tees NHS Foundation Trust launches Flow Manager at the Friarage Hospital
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has launched a new digital patient dashboard to manage outpatient flow at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.
The trust has launched Flow Manager from patient flow management specialist Intouch with Health, alongside other patient flow solutions within the Intouch Platform, including Room & Resource Manager, Kiosk & Mobile Check-in, Patient Calling and eOutcomes.
Flow Manager is now being used to manage outpatient flow across six of the eight outpatient departments at the Friarage, including Main Outpatients; Paediatrics Outpatients; Ophthalmology Outpatients; Maternity & Gynaecology Outpatients; Respiratory Outpatients and the Scott Suite.
Flow Manager will also be launched across the hospital’s Cardiology Outpatients and Radiology departments in the coming months.
The trust’s The James Cook University Hospital has been successfully using Flow Manager at its Main Outpatients and Ophthalmology Outpatients departments as a proof of concept since September 2021. A three-week staged roll-out across the remaining outpatients departments at James Cook hospital is now also underway.
David Warburton, Regional Sales Director at Intouch with Health, said: “Following a successful pilot programme using Flow Manager across outpatients, the trust has seen improvements in clinic efficiency and financial performance, and an improved experience for patients.
“Staff can now use Flow Manager to view the status of each patient, including if they have arrived and checked-in or if they are late, if they have been called to be seen, and when their appointment has started.
“They can plan, manage and update the entire patient journey through Flow Manager which integrates with the trust’s EPR, helping to improve care coordination across the trust and deliver significant operational efficiencies.”
The trust will also launch over 20 patient self check-in kiosks and 35 digital calling screens in total, and the introduction of Intouch’s Mobile Appointment Manager app will allow outpatients to check in using their smartphone on arrival.
Intouch’s digital outcomes recording software, eOutcomes, will also replace paper outcome forms.
